Route 54/Little Dry Wood Creek bridges CLOSED for rehab project beginning March 11

Vernon County – Drivers should expect lane reductions and traffic delays when a project to rehabilitate the U.S. Route 54/Little Dry Wood Creek bridges west of Nevada begins the week of March 11, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Contractor crews will remove the bridge deck/driving surface on both east- and westbound bridges and replace it with a new driving surface.

Traffic impacts:

  • Beginning the week of March 11, contractor crews will CLOSE the westbound bridge and shift traffic head-to-head on the eastbound lanes until mid-summer
  • When contractor completes work on westbound bridge, the eastbound bridge will CLOSE and traffic shifted head-to-head on the westbound lanes for duration of the project
  • Drivers should expect traffic delays
  • Watch for equipment and crews entering and exiting the work zone
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Drivers should consider alternate routes during the project
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.
