Motorcycle accident south of Joplin kills man from Neosho

An accident on Missouri 86 in the Redings Mill area, a mile south of Joplin Thursday took the life of a motorcycle rider from Neosho.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident took the life of 69-year old Jay W. Gardner of Neosho.

The Patrol says the crash occurred when Gardner’s Harley traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a road sign and a utility pole.

It was Highway Patrol Troop D’s 4th fatality of 2024.
